BYD Aims to Become Brazil’s 5th Largest Car Seller by 2027

Recently, Henrique Antunes, Commercial Director of BYD in Brazil, announced in São Paulo that BYD’s goal is to rank fifth in Brazil’s overall car market by 2027. According to data from the Brazilian Auto Dealers Association (Fenabrave), BYD sold 45,244 vehicles in Brazil between January and August 2024, capturing a market share of 3.78%.

Changan’s Thai New Energy Plant to Begin Operations Next Year

Changan Automobile has announced that the construction of its first new energy manufacturing base overseas in Thailand is progressing as planned. Located in Rayong province, the plant will serve as Changan’s global right-hand drive hub and will produce pure electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), and extended-range electric vehicles for sale in Thailand and export markets like Malaysia. Changan Southeast Asia Managing Director Shen Xinghua stated that production of pure EVs is expected to begin in March 2025, with an initial capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year, increasing to 200,000 by 2026. The project will cost over 10 billion Thai Baht (approximately 2.1 billion RMB).

On September 6, during the 8th China-Africa Entrepreneurs Conference held in Beijing, Xiaomi Group founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun stated that under the framework of China-Africa cooperation, Xiaomi has expanded its business to 16 African countries, including Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria, Morocco, Algeria, and Kenya. The company plans to increase investment across the African continent and hopes to enhance cooperation with African companies in emerging industries, including new energy vehicles (NEVs).

Deepal Automobile Enters UAE Market

EVs accounted for 20% of Global Car Sales in July

According to CleanTechnica on September 4, the global electric vehicle (EV) market continued its strong growth trend in July 2024. 1.344 million EVs (including pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles) were registered globally, representing a 22% year-on-year increase and 20% global car market share for the month.
