Uber Partners with BYD to Deploy 100,000 Electric Vehicles Globally
On July 31, Uber and BYD announced a long-term strategic partnership to promote BYD electric vehicles in multiple global markets. According to the agreement, Uber will introduce 100,000 BYD electric vehicles on its platform, significantly expanding BYD’s influence in the mobility services sector. Additionally, the two companies will jointly develop autonomous driving technology, with plans to deploy it on the Uber platform.
The initial collaboration will launch in European and Latin American markets, with plans to gradually expand to the Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. These markets are key to BYD’s global strategy and overlap significantly with Uber’s coverage, providing a solid foundation for the successful advancement of the partnership.
Guangxi’s Exports of Automobiles to ASEAN Up 20.1% in the First Half of the Year
On August 3, Nanning Customs announced that in the first half of 2024, Guangxi’s trade with ASEAN reached 185.62 billion yuan, a record high for the same period, representing a year-on-year increase of 26.7%. As the integration of supply chains continues, imports and exports of intermediate goods totaled 92.12 billion yuan, up 36.8%. Guangxi’s major exports to ASEAN include mechanical and electrical products, with lithium batteries and automobiles increasing by 225.5% and 20.1% year-on-year, respectively.
Tax Avoidance Surge Boosts Sales of Chinese Electric Vehicles in Europe
On July 31, it was reported that Chinese car manufacturers achieved a record 11% market share in Europe’s electric vehicle sector in June. This surge is mainly due to consumers rushing to buy vehicles before the new EU tariffs on Chinese electric cars come into effect. Data shows that electric vehicle registrations in Europe, including the UK, reached approximately 23,000 units in June, a 72% increase from May.
